Description

Guitar 2 is going to come in with a really interesting riff that has the emphasis on the upbeats, sounds really cool with guitar 1. Again, you can't help but to think of Angus and Malcolm form AC/DC here, two nice and tight rhythm tracks with crunchy distortion.

Again we're playing the open A string and we're starting by fretting another A on the D string, then we move up a minor third to a C, still playing the open A string. Then back to the A and repeat, then A again.
Next we move down to a G with the A string open, back to A and end the phrase on F# with the A string open.

You may notice that we're playing a major 6th - F# - in this A minor riff. This is called the dorian mode and is pretty common in modern rock.

Also, as important it is for guitar 1 to set up the right tempo and feel, it is equally important that when you come in with guitar 2 you fall right into the groove with guitar 1. There's no room for any "shaky" bars. It needs to be deadlocked from the first note you play together.
