Description
The tune starts out with the main riff you'll hear throughout the song. The riff is based on mostly low E string chunking while using palm muting with your picking hand down near the bridge. Pay special attention to the syncopation here, that features a combination of 8th notes and 16th notes.
The open notes alternate the notes of a double stop separated by a major third. Notice that the final open note is the flat 5 note in the key of E minor - this gives us that "evil" sound you hear in many metal riffs.
Watch out for that bar of 2/4 right before the verse, featuring the one-time riff chunking on that bV power chord - again, a staple in heavy metal.
