Description

The verse riff is very similar to the chorus but up an octave and with rhythmic variation.

It has a nice change to the 2 chord, the flat 7 chord and one beat on the 4 chord before returning home to D. Very characteristic progression with cool accents and an implied mixolydian mode.

Again, the gritty guitar tone combined with the musical phrases in the riff, really pushes the song. This time, the pentatonic lick is played high on the neck along with the blues chord riff, and the power chords (E-C-G-D) are played down the neck with rhythmic emphasis that follows the vocal melody.
