Description

This song features both clean and crunch electric guitars. I’m playing a Les Paul set for the bridge pickup to give a bright, powerful tone for all the parts in this song. That said, this song can still be played with any electric guitar.

A Marshall style tube amp is the best choice to replicate the tones in this tune. Dial in a clean setting - set the Preamp Gain to 30%, Bass to 75%, Mids and Treble to 60%, and the Presence to around 50%.

Since we’ve got a few parts that are played completely clean, I suggest setting up the amp that way. Then for the crunch guitar parts, kick in an overdrive or distortion pedal.

There are a few effects required to get a few of the parts like the recording. Guitar 2 is using a clean tone with an ambient reverb for the verses to give a washy, pad-like sound. Guitar 1 kicks in a fuzz pedal in the breakdown chorus for a distinct texture.

Since we’re in standard tuning, I’m using 10-46 string gauge. I’m also using a heavy pick to dig into these strums and riffs.
