Description

I’m using a Super-Strat style guitar set to the bridge humbucker for a full, clear, and powerful tone, but any guitar with a humbucker pickup in the bridge position is suitable. Guitar 2 sometimes switches to the neck pickup for a more bell-like, bluesy tone.

As far as amps go, any High Gain tube amp is a desirable choice. Crank up the amp for a thick distortion sound. Set the Drive to 90%, Bass to 45%, Mid to 50%, Treble to 60%, and Presence to 60%.

As for effects, the recording features layers of rhythm and lead guitar performed with a Talk Box effect mixed in. This effect can be approximated with a wah wah pedal.

For Guitar 2, kick in a boost or overdrive pedal for more gain and sustain. Guitar 2 also uses the wah in the first half of the guitar solo.

Add some reverb to both guitars for depth.

I’m using 10-46 gage with a heavy pick to dig into these massive riffs and licks.

Here are the settings I used:

Marshall JCM800 Model:
Drive: 90% Bass: 45% Mid: 50% Treb: 60% Presence: 60%
Tube Screamer (Guitar 2):
Gain: 65% Tone: 55% Level: 55%
Reverb (spring):
Wet/DryMIX: 30%
TUNING: 1/2 step down (Eb) : Eb Ab Db Gb Bb Eb
