She Got The Goldmine (I Got the Shaft)

Description

There are two main rhythm guitars in this song, and they both kick off the intro with a hard-driving country groove. Both guitars add a lot to the overall vibe and groove, but if you ever had to play this song with just one guitar part you should go with guitar 1's part for all the rhythm sections.

After the intro we're into the verse, which is built up around a call & response structure between the half-talked/half-sung vocal phrases and a bluesy riff played in harmony by the two rhythm guitars and one of the lead guitars. Then there's the last part of the verse, where guitar 1 picks up the full rhythm pattern in between the bluesy riffs, which builds a lot of tension leading up to the climactic chorus.

After the 2nd chorus we have the solo section, featuring 3 lead guitars harmonizing cool, jazzy country lines. This creates a massive sound that I refer to as the “wall of lead guitars”.

Lead guitar 1 can carry the solo all on it's own, so no sweat if you don't have 6 hands and 3 guitars. It's just fun to learn how this sound is obtained. This wall of guitars comes back in for the outro, while the track fades.
