Description
The intro and first verse of the tune set up the feel nicely, and introduced some challenging chord voicings and progressions. After the single strums of the intro, the main strumming pattern is established in the verses. Give your upstrokes the swing feel to lock in with the rest of the groove! Note how the guitar strums act almost like a hi-hat, highlighting the swing feel of the tune. The approach here is relaxed and locked in with the rhythm section.
There are some really cool chords here. Note the descending melody that the major, major7, 6 sequence provides on the C and F chords. That F#dim7 chord provides lots of tension that is resolved when we get back to the C chord (the I chord).
