Description

To play "Hanging by a Moment", you will first need to tune your guitar down a half step to Eb, and than drop the lowest string even lower to Db. For the sake of this tutorial, we are going to refer to the chords and open strings as they appear in Drop D tuning, which is D A D G B E. We will be covering a couple of guitars, using a variety of tones.

Our main guitar switches between a clean tone for the verses and a heavier, more distorted sound for the second and third choruses, along with the bridge.

Our second guitar uses a variety of tones as well. For the first chorus, interlude and third verse we are using a clean tone with a slight amount of chorus, reverb, and an 1/8 note delay at around 40% for some added tone texture. For the second verse we are simply turning off the delay and chorus to play our harmonics.

For the second and third chorus, along with the first part of the bridge, you will switch guitar #2 to a heavier more distorted tone with your gain at around 7, set in dual humbucker mode in the bridge position. During the second half of the bridge along with the outro, your distorted tone will feature a rotary effect that will play some melodic lines.
