Description
For the rhythm guitar we'll want to dial in an overdriven sound, not too aggressive and heavy but still not too light either. It's going have a bit more treble than bass but don't make it too shrill - and you want to be around 6 or 7 on your overdrive channel or pedal.
I'm playing a Stratocaster on both the middle and bridge pick up today. For the lead parts I'm simply going to switch the pick up selector to the bridge pick up. Then I'm gonna add a little bit of gain as well as a really sweet sounding chorus effect.
The chorus is mostly just to fatten the tone a bit, you want to keep it fairly neutral and set the speed somewhere in the middle and the depth around the same. Throw a tiny bit of reverb in there as well, just to sink the guitar into the mix.
Most of the rhythm and lead parts are actually doubled on the original recording. That will add another dimension to the tones as well.
