Description

The intro reoccurs throughout the song in the verse as well as the beginning of the last chorus. It utilizes the phaser effect.

It starts up at the 9th fret of the A string (Gb) played 3 times. You will return to that Gb note as a pedal tone in-between the following notes: Db at the 11th fret of the D string, D, Db, A on the 12th fret of the A string, Ab, B on the 7th fret of the low E string, E on the A string twice, and last B on the D string. This repeats three times.

Next play the 5th fret of the A string (D) 3 times. You'll return to this D note as a pedal tone in-between the following notes: A at the 7th fret of the D string, Ab, B, A, Ab, and E on the 7th fret of the A string 3 times.

After that the heavy guitars enter with your ring finger and pinky at the 4th fret preparing for an F# power chord. You play the open low E string and do a hammer-on with your index finger onto the 2nd fret completing the power chord.

Then you play a D power chord on the A string. After strumming the D twice, you move your index finger down a fret making it the third and root of an inverted A triad. Then add your middle finger onto the A on the E string making it no longer inverted.

After repeating this 3 times, play the D power chord again doubling the fifth on the low E string for added heaviness. Allow the open B and high E strings to ring out. This chord comes in a 16th note before beat one, which is called an anticipation.

Then an A power chord on the E string followed by an open E power chord.
