Description

In this tutorial we will learn a beginner level version of 'Take Me Out To The Ball Game', the classic public domain American tune about baseball by Albert Von Tilzer and Jack Norworth written in 1908. First we will learn the single note melody of the tune. Then we will add some harmony notes and make a simple full arrangement.

The original version of the song is in D major, but I'm teaching it in C major to make it as beginner friendly as possible. That will also make it easier to see where the accidentals happen. This song is a waltz. That means the time signature is 3/4. We'll aim for a tempo of 120 BPM.

The original version of this song has a verse that is not performed very often in modern times. Most performances, or sing alongs at baseball games, only use the well known chorus. But I've included the verse in this tutorial for completeness. You don't have to play it. I've included two separate arrangements of the song in this tutorial, one with the lesser known verse, one without. So you can choose to learn and play which ever version suits your goals.

The original version also has some different chords than are normal used in popular arrangements of the tune. I'll cover both: the popular, widely used chords and the chords from the original sheet music of the song. Again you can use either.
