Description

Breaking the measure into four evenly spaced beats is our most basic option in 4/4 time.

But what if we break each of those beats into two, and end up with a total of eight shorter beats?

This opens up all kinds of possibilities for creating different strumming grooves.

The cool thing is, your strumming hand is already passing by the strings, heading upwards, as it naturally completes the 4/4 strumming pattern you already know so well.

Let's take advantage of that upward motion of the right hand to add variation to the the feel of the strum.
