I like to record stuff onto my computer from time to time. Goldwave is a great program for recording stuff, but I've been using a cheap $5 mic so everything sounds like crap. Does anyone have any suggestions for a quality microphone that isn't too terribly expinsive?

for vocals, SM58 are the reference, everyone and their grandma uses them. Just know that your sound will be as good as your crapiest piece of gear it goes through. If you play on a beaten up Yamaha acoustic with dead strings (out of tune, of course) with a quarter as a pick, through the SM58, and into the Windows recorder, you'll end up sounding like...Hmmmm, Nirvana...*cough*
