I've got Sonar 4 as well, and this is one of the many things I never figured out. It helped tighten my rhythm playing though - having to play it all as one take... :o

I should probably figure it out, but I can't be bothered reading the book... I'd like the answer too though!

After the split, can you highlight and copy the chunk in the timeline and then paste it afterwards? Just a thought. If I figure it out, I'll let you know...

I've used sonar since version 3.

Step one is done, you have the recording. Simply double click on the track and it should open up a loop view. Then edit this loop view to your taste.

This is version 5 I'm working with but I'm pretty sure its not changed.

That's what I do when needed, never had a problem with it.. Just copy and paste the clip after the split.

You can also set loop points by right clicking in the area that shows what measure your on, and then selecting Loop On/Off. If you're going to be looping a section, be sure that you record with the metranome.
