Chord Anatomy 101

Description

Now that you're fully educated in the anatomy of major chords, let's explore what makes up a minor chord. In the previous lesson you saw that a major chord consists of the 1st , 3rd and 5th step of a major scale.

Now in order to make a minor chord, you could of course learn the minor scale and then use the 1st 3rd and 5th scale step to make a minor triad. But there is a short cut! Because the 1 and the 5 stay the same in a minor chord. The only thing that changes is that the 3rd is lowered by a half step.
