Description

Any acoustic guitar is suitable to play this song, but one with a brighter tone will help cut through the mix better.

For the electric guitar layers, I'm using a Telecaster, but any electric guitar with a single coil pickup in the bridge position can get close to the tone. Both electric layers feature a bright and aggressive tone that cuts through the mix.

As far as amps go, any Fender style tube amplifier is a perfect choice. Set the amp for bright clean sound with a touch of grit. Set the Drive to 40%, Bass to 45%, Mid to 55%, Treble to 70%, and Presence to 75%.

Add some reverb for depth.

Both electric guitars use compression to add some overall sustain and countrified-spank to the tone. For Guitar 3, kick in an overdrive pedal for more gain, perfect for digging into some searing leads. Guitar 3 also uses a slapback echo for an even more authentic country sound.

I used a 10-46 string gage, with a heavy pick so I can dig right into those riffs and leads.

Here are the settings I used:

Fender Twin Reverb Model:
Drive: 40% Bass: 45% Mid: 55% Treb: 70% Presence: 75%
Compressor:
Sustain: 50% Level: 50%
Tube Screamer (Guitar 3):
Drive: 65% Tone: 50%
Slapback Echo (Guitar 3):
DelayTime: 110ms Feedback: 5% Wet/DryMIX: 40%
Spring Reverb:
WetDryMIX: 40%
