Suspended chord

A chord in which the third is replaced by a fourth or a second to add unease. A C suspended 2 (Csus2) includes C, D and G, and a C suspended 4 (Csus4) includes C, F and G. These are used to create tension within a piece of music, because the listener desires resolution to the ordinary version of the chord.
